Although this is Ms. Laura’s first year teaching at MDE School, it is not her first year or first rodeo in the classroom. Ms. Laura has been teaching for over 15 years in both schools and neurodiverse settings with art therapists and at autism-focused summer camps. She has a bachelor’s degree in Art Therapy from Oglethorpe University and loves incorporating art making in the classroom.
“I value process over product, making art can be an emotionally regulating experience and promote a sense of calm and creativity in the classroom. I look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of the children at MDE School and facilitating a safe space for learning with kindness, patience, and creative encouragement. Thank you fo trusting me to do my best to help your child learn and grow on their journey”
Outside the classroom she is a ceramic artist and a single mother to an almost five-year-old daughter. Over the summer she spent time teaching her to swim and is currently teaching her to read. “It is a great joy to watch her grow and thrive with confidence.”
