Dasia Koonce joined MDE in January 2026 and is excited to begin her first full school year with the MDE family. She brings over seven years of experience in early childhood and special education, including six years with Atlanta Public Schools and a year and a half in a private preschool setting. Dasia recently completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education from Georgia State University.
Dasia’s love for teaching began at an early age, inspired by her mother and grandparents, who taught her the importance of patience, compassion, and helping others. Their influence sparked a passion for education that has grown into a rewarding career dedicated to supporting young learners. She believes every child is capable of success and strives to create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
At MDE, Dasia hopes to continue building strong relationships with students and families while fostering a love of learning through hands-on experiences, creativity, and meaningful connections. She is passionate about helping children grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.
Outside of the classroom, Dasia enjoys spending time with her dog, Portabella, golfing, creating arts and crafts projects, exploring new places around Atlanta, and making memories with family and friends.
