Ms. Corey joined the MDE School teaching staff in 2021, bringing with her a deep passion for working with children with special needs. Before joining MDE, she served as a special education paraprofessional in the public school system. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a specialization in Special Education and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Ms. Corey’s dedication to special education is rooted in her childhood experiences. “When I was growing up, my grandmother was a special education teacher at a local high school,” she recalls. “I loved visiting her classroom and helping out. My favorite time of year was when they held their Special Needs Dance. I would work hard all year just to be allowed to attend. Those memories remain some of my favorites, and ever since then, I’ve felt called to work in this field.”
At the heart of Ms. Corey’s teaching philosophy is creating a nurturing and supportive environment. “I always aim to create a safe and trusting space where my students feel loved and listened to,” she says. “I’m also passionate about exploring sensory input and teaching regulation tools. These skills are so important for helping students thrive academically.”
Although her graduate studies keep her busy, Ms. Corey enjoys spending time with family and friends and relaxing outdoors whenever she can.
