Life & Social Skills
This component of our curriculum helps students enhance life skills, along with their social skills in a one on one, small group and large group setting. Students have the opportunity to learn social skills while participating in lunch bunch led by a licensed Speech Therapist from Greater Atlanta Speech and Language Clinic. During the day, social skills are also taught through various teachable moments. These skills include, but are not limited to, teamwork, friendship, manners and building personal character.
Other life skills lessons focus on community involvement, leisure time, health care, vocational/technical options and living arrangements through hands-on, real life application.
Therapy is usually one-to-one with your child to maximize therapeutic time and ensure goal mastery.
Please direct all inquiries regarding therapy to Michelle Needle at Greater Atlanta Speech and Language Clinics.
MDE School is proud to share the campus with Greater Atlanta Speech and Language Clinic where speech, occupational, and physical therapies can be provided for your child during the school day. Comprehensive evaluation and treatment services are available through our highly trained and nurturing staff. Payment of these services are in addition to school tuition, however, they may be billable to your health insurance company or Medicaid.
It is often beneficial for the students to receive their therapy on site to assist with attention and focus, sensory regulation/stimulation, and goal continuity. All therapists and teachers have a “team approach” to addressing the needs of each individual student.
MDE School takes field trips several times
throughout the school year. This provides the students the ability to use what they learn in school both academically and socially.
Trips are included in the activity fee. There are special programs offered on site as well.
The cost of summer camp is $425.00 per week.
There is a discount for multiple weeks.
